Capital University is offering lots of classes for the spring semester. Classes start after Christmas and are open for registration. Cultural Pluralism in American Society is offered on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 pm, there is a World Geography course on Monday evenings, and Principals of Psychology is offered several different days and times. Many daytime classes are offered in languages like French or Spanish as well as many other classes. Most classes are 3 credit hours. Visit this link: https://webadvisor.capital.edu/WALIVEPORT/WALIVEPORT?&TYPE=M&PID=CORE-WBMAIN&TOKENIDX=3659937530and then click on Prospective Student (on the right), then click on Search for Sections. Scroll down and be sure to choose Spring 2010 and then under that on the left side choose some subjects (like Cultural Studies, Communication, Geography, HIstory) . By leaving the rest of the information to the right blank, you will see all of the classes that are offered.
Eastland Fairfield Career Center is offering some interesting classes as well. For English (ESOL) classes, you must call for enrollment information, dates, time and locations. The number is 614-836-3903. www.eastland-fairfield.com for more information.
OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY - Ohio State Continuing Education. They offer many languages (not just English). http://ced.osu.edu/CEd_noncreditLang.html - These courses in languages are usually only ONE credit hour (16 hours in the classroom) and the cost is $179. Classes begin around January 20, registration is open now.
Another choice at Ohio State is Ohio State University ESL program. Click this link for information on Registration: Classes will not start again until after Christmas. They do not have the new schedule up. Cost of these classes is $395 plus books and the classes usually run 25 hours - so this would count for 2 credit hours. http://esl.osu.edu/alp/NCC/Enroll.html
Columbus State Community College - Language Institute. Offers the most in depth English classes for the least amount of money and the most hours. Registration begins November 30 and classes start teh week of January 4. Look at the classes now! http://www.cscc.edu/LangInst/index.html
Otterbein College is another choice for classes - especially those living in the Westerville, New Albany, Gahanna areas of town. Visit http://www.otterbein.edu/Academics/index.asp When this page comes up, on the left side, choose COURSE SCHEDULES, then on that page, choose Winter Quarter. When the next page comes up, you will have to choose some subjects. If you hold down the CONTROL button on your keyboard while you click on the topics that you want, it will choose several subjects. Then hit Class search. You could limit your choices more by choosing the days or hours or other things but it might be easiest to see all that is offered by not choosing anything other than the subjects.
Another option for those who live EAST is Central Ohio Technical College. They have campuses in Pataskala and Newark and offer a variety of classes. Visit their home page: http://www.cotc.edu/Pages/index.aspx, choose the blue ADMISSIONS tab and under it click on SCHEDULE OF CLASSES. You will need to choose the term (winter) and the campus (look at a map to see what might be closest to you). Classes cost approximately $103 per hour.
